Introduction
The HAVmeter provides an easy to use system that monitors daily exposure to Hand Arm Vibration from hand-held tools.
The HAVmeter is the size and shape of a pager. At the start of each shift, the operative signs out a HAVmeter from the base station with their personalised card, which can be programmed to take into account any existing HAVS problems. All tools are fitted with Tool Tags which connect magnetically with the HAVmeter. Once attached, the HAVmeter provides a vibration exposure reading in real-time, accompanied by a flashing traffic light system LED based on the HSE’s regulations.
The operative can then use the meter on as many tools as needed throughout the day providing a cumulative reading of their vibration exposure. At the end of the shift, the operative simply returns the HAVmeter to the base station and all the information collected throughout the day automatically downloads. Using Toolminder software, monitoring the individual’s vibration exposure is easy and essential management reports can be created at the click of a button.
